by Arensky
Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 32 - I. Allegro moderato was written by Anton Arensky, in 1894 as his Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 32, for violin, cello and piano, dedicated to cellist Karl Davydov. This Romantic chamber work, conceived partly as a memorial to Davydov, shows Arensky’s lyrical style and reflects the influence of Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky. Although Arensky is less known than some of his Russian contemporaries, this trio has become his most frequently performed chamber work and is regarded as a jewel of the late‑Romantic piano trio repertoire.
