by Diana Ross
Upside Down was written by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, written for Diana Ross’s Motown album Diana and released as its lead single in June 1980. Upside Down is a disco-funk song produced by the Chic team of Edwards and Rodgers, featuring Ross’s vocals over a rhythmically driven arrangement typical of late‑1970s club music. The single topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks and became one of Ross’s biggest solo hits, remaining a widely recognized dance classic and frequently appearing on “greatest songs” and disco-era compilations.
