by Bob Seger
Old Time Rock and Roll was written by George Jackson and Thomas E. Jones III, first recorded by Bob Seger for his 1978 album Stranger in Town and released as a single in May 1979. The song is a nostalgic rock and roll number reflecting fondly on the music of the 1950s and was cut with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section rather than Seger’s Silver Bullet Band. It became one of Seger’s signature songs, gained renewed fame from its use in the 1983 film Risky Business, and has since been widely cited as a jukebox and classic‑rock staple.
