Candles, presents, cake and loved ones…birthdays are a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together to celebrate, and in many countries around the world, singing a song is a very important part of this ritual.
The most famous birthday song is of course Happy Birthday. The origins of this song are unclear, but the story goes that in 1893, Patty, a kindergarten teacher from Kentucky, asked her sister Mildred to compose something that children could easily remember. The sisters then created the melody using the name Good Morning to All, and over time it eventually became Happy Birthday.
