Tempo: music should be played slowly or broadly. In Italian, the term means 'broad' or 'wide', in other words slowly.
A great example is Handel's Ombra Mai Fu from Xerxes (Serse). Listening to the piece, it feels almost stately, like a court dance:
Another fantastic example is the second movement of Winter from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. The melody is played on the violin – you can hear the performer is not rushing at all, they are taking their time. Have a look at the video below:
