Albinoni Sheet Music
About Albinoni
The Italian Baroque composer Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751) distinguished himself as one of the masters of the Venetian school. Although a wealthy dilettante, he produced an important body of work, notably operas and concerti. His elegant style combined Italian formal clarity with remarkable melodic expressiveness. Albinoni was influenced by Corelli, the Venetian school and Baroque opera. He was one of the first to write concerti for oboe, considerably enriching the instrument's repertoire. Although today he is best known for his ‘Adagio’ (actually a modern reconstruction by Remo Giazotto), his original output is vast and significant. His influence on Baroque music is significant, and he was particularly admired by Bach, who used his themes for his own compositions. After a period of relative obscurity, his music enjoyed a revival in the 20th century. His works continue to be performed and recorded, testifying to the quality and elegance of his musical writing.
