Gruber Sheet Music
About Gruber
Austrian composer Hans Gruber was born in Vienna after the Second World War and grew up in a musical environment. Initially a chorister with the Vienna Boys Choir, Hans Gruber soon adopted an avant-garde style and unconventional approach to composition that made him a unique figure in contemporary music. He is known for his ‘grotesque neo-romantic’ style, blending elements of classical, popular and avant-garde music with a touch of black humour. His most famous work, Frankenstein, is a perfect example of his theatrical and playful approach to composition. Gruber's musical style is distinguished by its eclecticism and its ability to blur the boundaries between ‘high’ and ‘low’ culture. He has collaborated with many leading artists and ensembles and has influenced a new generation of experimental composers. Although best known for his orchestral and vocal works, Gruber also composed operas and chamber music. Gruber's influence on contemporary music and his original approach to composition continue to inspire musicians and listeners around the world.
