Ennio Morricone Sheet Music
About Ennio Morricone
Italian composer Ennio Morricone (1946-2020) has distinguished himself as one of the greatest composers of film music. Starting out composing spaghetti westerns with Sergio Leone, notably ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ (1966), he revolutionised film music with his innovative arrangements. His style combines classical orchestration, original instruments and creative sound effects. Morricone drew inspiration from classical music, jazz and traditional Italian music. His collaboration with directors such as Brian De Palma and Quentin Tarantino illustrates his multi-faceted talent. Although often associated with western soundtracks, he has composed for all film genres, creating over 500 original soundtracks. Many of his themes, such as ‘Mission’, have become classics of the genre. After a career spanning more than 60 years, he received an honorary Oscar in 2007, followed by an Oscar for Best Film Score for ‘The Dirty Eight’ in 2016. His work, which continues to inspire contemporary composers, is a testament to his timeless genius.
