by The Beatles
Julia was written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon–McCartney), in 1968 for the Beatles’ self‑titled double album commonly known as the White Album. Recorded in 1968, Julia is a gentle solo piece for voice and acoustic guitar that Lennon wrote as a tribute to his late mother Julia Lennon, also alluding to Yoko Ono. First released on 22 November 1968 as the closing track of side two of The Beatles, it has since been widely admired for its intimacy and is often highlighted as one of Lennon’s most personal songs with the band.
