by Beethoven
Ecossaise in E flat major, WoO 86 was written by Ludwig van Beethoven, in 1825 as a short piano dance for the Viennese actor Carl Friedrich Müller. The Ecossaise in E flat major, WoO 86 is a brief Scottish-style country dance for solo piano, written to be included in the publication Ernst und Tändelei, a collection of social dances issued in Vienna later that year. Though a minor work in Beethoven’s output, it appears in teaching collections and recital programmes as an accessible example of his lighter dance music.
