by Hole
Violet was written by Courtney Love, Eric Erlandson and Patty Schemel, written mainly in 1991 and first released in 1994 on Hole’s album Live Through This. Violet is an alternative rock and grunge song that opens the album, with Courtney Love having begun writing it during a 1991 tour before the band recorded Live Through This. The track received critical acclaim, has often been cited as one of Hole’s finest songs, and later gained renewed exposure through its use on the soundtrack of the film Bridesmaids (2011).
