Tornero was written by Ignazio Polizzy, Claudio Natili, Marcello Ramoino and Elio Palumbo, first released in 1974 as the debut single of Italian group I Santo California. The down‑tempo romantic ballad, whose music was written by Ignazio Polizzy Carbonelli, Claudio Natili and Marcello Ramoino with lyrics by Elio Palumbo, became a major hit in 1975 in Italy and other European countries. Tornerò topped the Italian charts for several weeks, was certified gold after selling over a million copies, reached number one in Switzerland and the top five in German‑speaking countries, and has since been covered in many languages.
