Wave was written by Antônio Carlos Jobim, in 1967 for his album Wave. Wave is a bossa nova instrumental composed by Jobim and first recorded with an American jazz rhythm section for his 1967 A&M Records album of the same name. The piece has become a jazz and bossa nova standard, widely recorded by instrumentalists and vocalists and often featured in fake books and recital repertoires.
