by UB40
Kingston Town was written by Lord Creator, written and first released in 1970. The song is a rocksteady-style ode to Kingston, Jamaica, originally issued as a single on producer Clancy Eccles’ Clandisc label. Kingston Town was revived internationally when UB40’s 1989 cover became a major hit in 1990, bringing renewed attention to Lord Creator’s original.
