by Weiss
Air was written by Sylvius Leopold Weiss, in the early 18th century as part of his output for solo Baroque lute. Weiss, a leading German lutenist‑composer active at the Dresden court, wrote numerous dances titled "Air" within his lute suites, which are typically graceful, song‑like movements. These Air movements are now staples of the Baroque lute repertoire and are often transcribed for modern classical guitar.
