by Hans Zimmer
Gladiator - Now We Are Free was written by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard, around 2000 for Ridley Scott’s film Gladiator and its original soundtrack album. Now We Are Free is the closing vocal piece from the Gladiator film score, combining Zimmer’s orchestral writing with Gerrard’s distinctive vocal lines and invented-language text. It has become one of the most celebrated cues in modern film music, frequently cited in discussions of Hans Zimmer’s work and often performed or rearranged in concert and media contexts.
