by Simple Minds
Waterfront was written by Simple Minds members Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill and Derek Forbes and released in November 1983 as the lead single from their album Sparkle in the Rain. Waterfront is an anthemic rock track with a pounding bass riff and drum pattern, inspired by the changing landscape of the band’s hometown of Glasgow and often used to open their live shows. The single became a hit in several European countries and has remained one of Simple Minds’ signature concert songs.
