by VanderCook
Lyra was written by Hale A. VanderCook, within his early 20th‑century Trumpet Stars series for cornet. Lyra is one of VanderCook’s pedagogical trumpet and cornet solos named after stars and constellations, written to develop musicality and technique in young brass players. Like the other Trumpet Stars pieces, Lyra remains part of standard teaching and contest repertoire for student cornet and trumpet players.
