Renaissance
Period 1400 - 1600

The influence of the church decreased during this period, which meant composers had more artistic freedom. Music was no longer just about God, it became more about entertainment. The printing press was invented in 1439, leading to much more music being printed and therefore distributed to other places. New instruments were created during the Renaissance period, as well as older instruments being developed. They included the lute, viola da gamba and the trumpet.
